Superior Galleries Announces Appointment of Paul Song as Vice President of Auctions
Beverly Hills, California - April 6, 2005 - Superior Galleries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin
Board: SPGR) announced today Paul Inho Song has been appointed as Vice President,
Auctions, effective April 18th, 2005, Mr. Song will be responsible for all auction-based
operations for Superior Galleries.
Mr. Song's appointment is part of management's strategy to grow the Company through all its
traditional and online sales channels, leveraging its newly enhanced access to capital.
Last week, the Company's principal shareholder, Stanford Financial, made an additional
equity investment in Superior through the purchase of $2.5 million of Superior's Series E
Convertible Preferred Stock and also enhanced Superior's auction advance and inventory line
of credit to $10 million from $7.5 million. In this context, Mr. Song's appointment is seen
as bolstering both its traditional live auction and online sales channels, due to his
comprehensive experience in both realms.
Paul Inho Song has over 15 years of extensive experience at a management level in running
both live and internet numismatic auctions for Sotheby's, Sotheby's-Amazon.com and most
recently as Vice President of Teletrade, a unit of Spectrum Numismatic Auctions. Mr.
Song has been involved in all aspects of auctions, including sales, marketing and operations.
Silvano DiGenova, CEO of Superior Galleries, said, "We are very excited about Paul joining
our management team at Superior. Our auction unit has always played an important and
integral part in Superior's business model. I believe that Paul's experience in and
knowledge of the rare coin auction business will greatly assist Superior in expanding
its auction business both in the live auction arena and in our crucial on-line sales channels."
Mr. DiGenova further noted, "Paul's appointment as Vice President, Auctions could not
have come at a more opportune time. Growing our business requires two principal elements:
specialized expertise in the very knowledge-intensive field of rare coins, and capital
to build inventory, enhance our multiple sales channels and provide auction advances to
customers. We believe that the additional investment we have received from Stanford
Capital, along with Paul Song's new leadership for our auction unit, will allow us to
strengthen and grow our auction business."
